Club History
Founded in 1878 as Newton Heath, Manchester United became the most successful English club of the Premier League era under Sir Alex Ferguson, who won 13 league titles in 27 years. The Munich air disaster of 1958, the 1999 treble, and Cristiano Ronaldo's two spells are among the defining moments. Old Trafford, known as the Theatre of Dreams and opened in 1910, is one of the world's most famous sporting venues. The club is planning to build a new 100,000-capacity stadium.
